 Draft Scout Kyle Juszczyk News
09/22/14 - FB Kyle Juszczyk is becoming more involved in the offense each week. His burly frame (6-feet-1, 248 pounds) makes him a handful when he runs downhill. Juszczyk caught three passes for 58 yards and a touchdown against the Browns. "A divisional win is always huge," Juszczyk said. "For us to come into what we described as a 'hateful environment', it's huge. For us to have that mental fortitude to win a game like this is really big for us, and it's going to pay dividends down the line."
06/12/14 - FB Kyle Juszczyk is slated for a versatile pass-catching role. He replaces former Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach. "Last year was a great learning year, and Vonta was such an awesome mentor," Juszczyk told The Baltimore Sun. "It stinks that we were fighting for the same job. I miss the guy because he's such a great guy, but last year was a good year for me to figure out what this whole NFL thing is about. "I'm excited to use what I've learned and be a big part of this offense. I think the offense fits right into my skill set: blocking in space and catching the ball and all that stuff." At 6-foot-1, 248 pounds, Juszczyk isn't in the mold of an old-school human battering ram like Leach. He's a hybrid fullback who was utilized like a tight end as well as an H-back and slot receiver in college before being drafted in the fourth round last year. "I've gotten the term of 'Swiss Army Knife' a lot since high school because of my versatility," Juszczyk said. "They've got me doing a lot of different things." Juszczyk caught 125 passes for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns at Harvard and was a two-time All-Ivy league selection. The former Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and All-American selection caught 52 passes for 706 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. Juzczyk reminds offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak of athletic fullback James Casey, who caught 34 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns in 2012 for the Texans while playing for Kubiak. Casey signed a three-year, $14.6 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. "I've been very impressed with Kyle," Kubiak said. "We haven't put the pads on yet, so fullbacks get judged when you put those pads on, but he reminds me a lot of a kid I had for a couple of years, James Casey. "He played really well for me. He's athletic and can make some plays down the field. I like fullbacks that can run, because there's such a separation between them and the tailbacks. ‘Juice' has responded we
06/11/13 - Rookie Kyle Juszczyk is now the starting fullback with Vonta Leach released. Drafted in the fourth round out of Harvard after catching 125 career passes for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns, Juszczyk is regarded highly for his hands and versatility. "He's exactly where we expected him to be," Harbaugh said of Juszczyk. "He's smart, of course. He has picked it up very quickly, which you would expect. He has skills, he has ball skills, good football player."
04/28/13 - A closer look at the Ravens' picks: Round 4/130 - Kyle Juszczyk, FB, 6-1, 248, Harvard...Excelled at Senior Bowl and took a dozen visits after starring in Ivy League as pass-catching fullback. Ravens figure to utilize him at fullback, tight end and H-back and expected to eventually replace Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach. - The Sports Xchange
03/28/13 - 2013 Harvard Pro Day: Kyle Juszczyk could be first Harvard player drafted since 2005...Representatives from 15 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at Harvard on March 14, where six Harvard players and nine others from different schools worked out.

Kyle Juszczyk, Harvard FB (6-foot-1 1/4, 248 pounds) - Juszczyk - who was not at the NFL Scouting Combine - ran the 40-yard dash in 4.72 and 4.71 seconds. He had a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.19 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.93 seconds. He performed 24 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Juszczyk played some tight end and H-back for the Crimson, but worked out at fullback at his pro day. He had a very good workout, and I imagine that this showing will earn Juszczyk a draft selection somewhere in the fifth or sixth rounds. The last player drafted out of Harvard was quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth-round of the 2005 NFL Draft. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
