Donald Thomas Snapshot
Draft Scout Snapshot: 2007: All-Big East Conference first-team selection…Shifted to right offensive guard, starting all thirteen games, but a shoulder contusion would sideline him for the second half vs. Pittsburgh and he left the Louisville clash in the first quarter after a re-injury…Finished with 77 knockdowns, eight touchdown-resulting blocks and a grade of 82.83% for blocking consistency, earning the team's Unsung Hero Award…Part of a unit that averaged 347.2 yards per game…Was penalized three times and allowed just an assisted quarterback sack and two pressures on 360 pass plays…Also returned a kickoff 13 yards vs. Pittsburgh. Played in 10 games and earned his first career start at left guard in '06. Played in all 11 games on special teams, serving as the wedge-buster in kickoffs in '05. Redshirted in '04. Was enrolled at UConn but did not play football in '03.
The UConn offensive line is in the interesting position of being both young and experienced at the same time. The Huskies have just one senior on the two-deep yet also have eight players with previous game experience at UConn, including seven people who have started games on the offensive line for the blue and white. The lone senior of the group is senior Donald Thomas at right guard, a former walk-on. Entering the 2007 season, William Beatty (9), captain Keith Gray (5), Mike Hicks (10), Alex LaMagdelaine (10), Dan Ryan (7), Donald Thomas (1) and Trey Tonsing (8) had all started games for the Huskies. 2007 All-BIG EAST Conference First Team (Coaches): OG Thomas started all 12 games at right guard and did not allow a sack in 2007. After befriending Lansanah on the campus' rec basketball courts, Thomas joined the team as a walk-on during his sophomore year and later earned both a scholarship and starting role through hard work. - UConn Football...Full Donald Thomas Draft Profile

Recent Draft Scout Donald Thomas News
07/31/14 - G Donald Thomas re-tore the same quad that cost him all but two games during the 2013 season, coach Chuck Pagano confirmed Thursday. The Colts placed Thomas on injured reserve and re-signed undrafted free agent tackle Eric Pike.
"Donald worked extremely hard to get back. I feel awful for Donald," Pagano said. "He was playing extremely well and doing a great job. Donald will be fine and he'll go back to work to rehab that quad."
Pagano said Thomas will require season-ending surgery after re-tearing his right quadriceps tendon during Wednesday afternoon's practice at Anderson University.
Pagano said Thomas was "doing a great job. (The injury is) the ugly side of football.''
Thomas, who signed a four-year, $14 million contract during the 2013 offseason, missed the final 14 games of last season after tearing his right quad against the Miami Dolphins. He also tore a biceps tendon in the game on the same series. He was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 17, 2013. Thomas was originally signed by the team as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2013.
07/30/14 - OG Donald Thomas suffered a lower body injury during Wednesday's practice. He will undergo an MRI Wednesday night. Thomas was returning to the Colts lineup after missing the final 14 games last year with a torn quad and a torn biceps. If his most recent injury sidelines him indefinitely, rookie OG Jack Mewhort would be the top candidate to replace him.
07/24/14 - OG Donald Thomas has been cleared to practice after suffering a quad injury last season. Thomas missed most of the 2013 campaign. While he has been cleared to resume to work out with the Colts, head coach Chuck Pagano says that he is taking a wait and see stance regarding Thomas' status during camp.
09/19/13 - G Donald Thomas was placed on reserve/injuerd by the Colts Tuesday.
09/16/13 - OG Donald Thomas (torn quad tendon) will miss the remainder of the season after he was hurt in the first quarter of the Miami game. He is scheduled to undergo surgery sometime this week. Thomas will be placed on the Colts' injured reserve list.
