Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Bengals' picks: Round 2/53 - Margus Hunt, DE, 6-8, 277, SMU...He led the Mustangs in sacks last season with 8.0 and closed out his career as a record-setting kick blocker, with 17 (10 field goals and seven extra points). The first year is going to be plenty of learning, especially with a deep group at defensive end. However, he could make an immediate impact on special teams and is an insurance policy with Michael Johnson on a one-year deal and Carlos Dunlap in the last year of his contract. - The Sports Xchange

08/29/14 - DE Margus Hunt, 6-feet-8, 290 pounds, continues to grow and show why the Bengals were willing to use a second-round pick on him last year. Hunt had three sacks in the preseason finale against Indianapolis, giving him four for the preseason.
"I got a few good opportunities to put the speed move on them," Hunt said. "I've tried to really work on finishing. Last year I was just trying to catch up. I was playing slow because I was trying to learn everything. Now I know what to do and what to look at on film. It's been working out."
He has also been dominant against the run and should play a major role in the defensive line rotation this year."
08/15/14 - DE Margus Hunt continues to impress Bengals coaches with his growth in a game that is still relatively new to him. The Estonia native came to American to throw the shot put and discus at SMU, but when the track program folded he switched to football and used his 6-foot-8 frame to dominate on the defensive line. He didn't see much action early in his rookie season, but after injuries to Geno Atkins and Devon Still, Hunt played in the final nine regular-season games and wild-card loss to San Diego.
In the preseason opener at Kansas City, Hunt recorded one sack and was a physical force up front, including one play where he shot putted Chiefs tackle Jeff Linkenbach on a bull rush.
"Well that's the good part of it, the fact that he can extend and roll through the hips and use that power and leverage," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "He also has great speed, and long arms and those kind of traits that good pass rushers have. You have to continue to just work harder at working with moves, pass-rush progression, and what he has done, and try to improve his repertoire of moves, and his reaction and counters all the time."
