Anthony Boone TSX Player News Log
06/12/15 - QB Anthony Boone was waived by the Lions Friday (June 12).
05/25/15 - QB Anthony Boone was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Lions Broncos on May 8.
10/11/14 - Anthony Boone threw for 123 yards and a touchdown, Josh Sneed rushed for 102 yards and a score, and Duke snapped a 10-year losing streak against Georgia Tech by beating the No. 22 Yellow Jackets 31-25 Saturday. Backup quarterback Thomas Sirk had a couple of short TD runs for the Blue Devils (5-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won in Atlanta for the first time since 1994 and showed they aren't going to give up their Coastal Division title without a fight. With a week off to prepare for the triple-option offense, Duke took advantage of three huge second-half turnovers by the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 2-1).

Justin Thomas threw a pair of interceptions - one deep in Duke territory - and Zach Laskey fumbled. With Duke up 14-12, the second-half kickoff was delayed 1 hour, 17 minutes by thunderstorms moving quickly through downtown Atlanta. When play finally resumed, the Blue Devils were clearly the better-prepared team. Laskey fumbled on the opening possession, with Duke's Jeremy Cash recovering at the Georgia Tech 46. The Blue Devils needed nine plays to reach the end zone, converting a pair of third downs before Snead took it in with a 4-yard run. - AP Sports

07/31/14 - 2014 PRESEASON MAXWELL AWARD WATCH LIST: Anthony Boone, Duke, Quarterback, Senior...Last year, Boone, a 6-0, 225-pound native of Weddington, N.C., completed 206-of-322 (.640) passes for 2,260 yards with 13 touchdowns & 13 interceptions while rushing 66 times for 214 yards and five additional scores. In the ACC, he ranked third in completions per game (18.73), third in pass completion percentage, sixth in passing yards per game (205.5), sixth in total offensive yards per game (224.9), eighth in points responsible per game (10.00) and eighth in pass efficiency.

Additionally in 2013, Boone posted three of Duke’s top 10 all-time best single-game pass completion percentage standards against Wake Forest (.828 [24-29]; 3rd), Navy (.816 [31-38]; 7th) and N.C. Central (.800 [16-20]; t9th). Against Texas A&M in the 46th annual Chick-fil-A Bowl, he established Duke bowl game records for pass completions (29), pass attempts (45), passing yardage (427), total offensive yards (454) and TD responsibility (4) while matching the school standard for passing TDs (3). - Duke football

07/31/14 - 2014 PRESEASON JOHNNY UNITAS GOLDEN ARM AWARD WATCH LIST: Anthony Boone, Duke...Last year Boone completed 206-of-322 (.640) passes for 2,260 yards with 13 touchdowns & 13 interceptions while rushing 66 times for 214 yards and five additional scores. In the ACC, he ranked third in completions per game (18.73), third in pass completion percentage, sixth in passing yards per game (205.5), sixth in total offensive yards per game (224.9), eighth in points responsible per game (10.00) and eighth in pass efficiency. - Duke football
07/30/14 - 2014 PRESEASON DAVEY O’BRIEN AWARD WATCH LIST: Anthony Boone (Duke, Senior)...A watch list selection for the Maxwell Award and a preseason All-ACC pick by Lindy’s Sports and Phil Steele, Boone has played in 33 games with 12 starts and is 10-2 in his career as Duke’s starting quarterback. His only losses came at the hands of No. 1 Florida State in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship game and to No. 21 Texas A&M in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Boone threw multiple touchdowns in five games in 2013, including a career-best 427-yard performance against Texas A&M in which he accounted for three passing touchdowns and one rushing score. - Duke football
07/07/14 - Other Duke prospects to watch in 2014: QB Anthony Boone...Athletic QB with enough arm talent to make an NFL roster, but who has struggled with consistency and decision-making thus far in his college career. Better poise and accuracy from the pocket could mean a chance to be selected in 2015. - Derek Stephens, NFLDraftScout.com
12/31/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Anthony Boone was erratic in the ACC championship game, completing 20-of-40 passes, and those numbers were bolstered by a late-game drive well after the outcome had been determined. Boone is coming off the only loss in his 11 career starts for the Blue Devils. He's mobile enough to stay away from some pass rushes, but Duke will look for ways where he can be more effective in locating open receivers. - The Sports Xchange
12/02/13 - WEEK 14 ACC CO-OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK: Anthony Boone, Duke, Jr.-R, QB, 6-0, 230, Weddington, N.C.,...Boone completed 23-of-34 passes (.677) for 274 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the 20th-ranked Blue Devils’ 27-25 Coastal Division-clinching win over North Carolina. Boone engineered Duke’s game-winning drive in the fourth quarter - an 11-play, 66-yard march that resulted in Ross Martin’s 27-yard field goal with 2:22 left.

On the afternoon, Boone directed a Duke offense that committed no turnovers and allowed no sacks while rolling up 27 first downs and 461 total yards (187 rushing and 274 passing). Duke entered the week converting an ACC-low 25.3 percent on third down, but Boone led the Blue Devils to an 8-of-15 conversion rate (.533) versus UNC. - ACC football

11/29/13 - Another school record belongs to this Duke team -- and at least part of a division title does, too. The 25th-ranked Blue Devils want it all to themselves. Anthony Boone threw three touchdown passes and Duke claimed a share of the ACC's Coastal Division title by beating Wake Forest 28-21 for its school-record-tying ninth victory. Win once more -- against hated rival North Carolina, no less -- and they won't have to share the title. If the Blue Devils (9-2, 5-2) beat the Tar Heels next week, they'll play No. 2 Florida State in the league title game in Charlotte with a BCS berth on the line. - AP Sports
