08/07/17 - WR Josh Doctson underwent an MRI exam and was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring. He missed Monday's practice after sustaining the injury on Sunday. Doctson is listed as day-to-day.
12/07/16 - WR Josh Doctson's season is over. Washington designated center Kory Lichtensteiger to return from injured reserve on Wednesday. NFL teams are allowed to bring back just one player from IR per season under a revised rule.
That means Doctson, who has been on IR since Oct. 21 with chronic tendinitis in his sore left Achilles tendon, won't be back. He was eligible to return for the final two games of the regular season.
"It is disappointing for all of us," Washington coach Jay Gruden said. "We had high hopes for him coming out of TCU and the talent that he has and he's disappointed, but these things happen."
Doctson was the Redskins' first-round draft pick in 2016 after a stellar college career at TCU. At 6-foot-2, 206 pounds he had the size that Washington was missing at wide receiver.
But Doctson began experiencing pain in his Achilles tendon and did not practice after May 25 at either OTAs or minicamp. He began training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and wasn't activated until just before the season and played 31 snaps the first two weeks with just two receptions before the Achilles' pain flared up again. Doctson was inactive for another four games before being placed on IR.
10/21/16 - WR Josh Doctson, the Redskins' 2016 first-round pick, was placed on injured reserve. Doctson, a wide receiver from TCU, is bothered by an Achilles' tendon injury. He has played in just two games and has just two receptions.
10/17/16 - WR Josh Doctson, battling a sore left Achilles tendon since May and limited to just two regular-season games, will be "immobilized," according to Washington coach Jay Gruden. That will allow him to take pressure off the tendon for several weeks to see if the inflammation goes down.
If improvement doesn't occur, then Gruden admits injured reserve is a distinct possibility for Doctson, the team's first-round draft pick in 2016, No. 22 overall. Doctson hasn't practiced since the week after the Dallas game on Sept. 18. He was limited all that week and then scratched 90 minutes before the New York Giants game on Sept. 25.
10/15/16 - WR Josh Doctson (Achilles) has been ruled out for Sunday.
10/12/16 - WR Josh Doctson (sore left Achilles) still hasn't practiced since being a late scratch before a Week 3 game vs. the New York Giants. Doctson has appeared in just two games and has been hurt on and off since May.ksonville.
10/05/16 - WR Josh Doctson again did not participate in practice on Wednesday after a setback with his chronically sore left Achilles tendon before the Sept. 25 game against the Giants. Doctson did not play against the Browns on Sunday.
10/03/16 - WR Josh Doctson missed his second game of the season Sunday with a sore left Achilles tendon, an injury that has bothered him since May and cost him almost all of the preseason.
09/14/16 - WR Josh Doctson made his NFL debut Monday despite missing almost the entire offseason with a sore left Achilles tendon. Docton recorded his first career catch, too. He made it through the game unscathed and was a full participant at practice Wednesday.
09/13/16 - WR Josh Doctson (sore left Achilles tendon) not only played on Monday, but made his first NFL catch. Doctson only returned to practice last week for the first time since May 25.
