Josh Doctson TSX Player News Log
10/09/17 - WR Josh Doctson (shoulder) returned to practice on Monday and was a full participant. He expects to play Sunday vs. San Francisco.
10/03/17 - WR Josh Doctson nearly made a go-ahead, 22-yard touchdown catch in the final minute Monday. He initially appeared to make the catch before he hit the ground, but the ball squirted free with Chiefs CB Phillip Gaines tumbling to the turf with him. "Josh almost had it," coach Jay Gruden said. "He made an unbelievable effort for the ball, unfortunately couldn't hold it in with hitting the ground."
10/03/17 - WR Josh Doctson hurt his shoulder on the final offensive play of the game for Washington when he landed hard and couldn't quite finish what would have been a spectacular catch for the go-ahead touchdown. He is listed as day-to-day.
09/21/17 - WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) was full-go at practice on Wednesday and made a couple of leaping catches during individual drills.
09/13/17 - WR Josh Doctson was limited at practice on Wednesday with a tight hamstring that has bothered him since Aug. 7. Doctson played 20 snaps in Week 1 and missed three of the four preseason games.
09/06/17 - WR Josh Doctson was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and is on track to start Sunday's season opener against Philadelphia despite a hamstring injury.
08/21/17 - WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) returned to practice late last week and was a surprise participant in the Green Bay game on Saturday. Doctson worked with the second-teamers and had one catch on Saturday.
08/17/17 - WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay. He has been out since Aug. 6 and missed the preseason opener vs. Baltimore, but did participate in individual drills at practice on Thursday.
08/07/17 - WR Josh Doctson underwent an MRI exam and was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring. He missed Monday's practice after sustaining the injury on Sunday. Doctson is listed as day-to-day.
12/07/16 - WR Josh Doctson's season is over. Washington designated center Kory Lichtensteiger to return from injured reserve on Wednesday. NFL teams are allowed to bring back just one player from IR per season under a revised rule. That means Doctson, who has been on IR since Oct. 21 with chronic tendinitis in his sore left Achilles tendon, won't be back. He was eligible to return for the final two games of the regular season. "It is disappointing for all of us," Washington coach Jay Gruden said. "We had high hopes for him coming out of TCU and the talent that he has and he's disappointed, but these things happen." Doctson was the Redskins' first-round draft pick in 2016 after a stellar college career at TCU. At 6-foot-2, 206 pounds he had the size that Washington was missing at wide receiver. But Doctson began experiencing pain in his Achilles tendon and did not practice after May 25 at either OTAs or minicamp. He began training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and wasn't activated until just before the season and played 31 snaps the first two weeks with just two receptions before the Achilles' pain flared up again. Doctson was inactive for another four games before being placed on IR.
