Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Broncos' picks: Round 1/28 -- Sylvester Wiliams, DT, 6-3, 313, North Carolina...The Broncos were surprised that Williams fell to them, but when he did, they declined trade offers and pounced. He continues John Elway's trend of leading off with a pass rusher; he opened the 2011 draft with Von Miller, who lines up at defensive end half the time, and picked defensive tackle/end Derek Wolfe with his first pick last year. Williams, who had six sacks and 25 pressures last year, will likely back up Terrance Knighton and Kevin Vickerson right away, but could be worked into the Broncos' sub packages to boost the interior pass rush and take pressure off Miller. - The Sports Xchange

Sylvester Williams TSX Player News Log
01/09/14 - DT Sylvester Williams' improved play at defensive tackle in recent weeks is primarily because of two factors: the experience he's accumulating and the tutelage of Terrance Knighton. The two starting defensive tackles have spent time away from team headquarters watching game footage, with the five-year veteran Knighton focusing on teaching Williams what to look for at the snap.
01/08/14 - DT Sylvester Williams has found his footing since being forced into the starting lineup after Kevin Vickerson's season-ending hip injury. The Broncos' first-round pick has three tackles for losses and two sacks in his last three games.
12/26/13 - -- DT Sylvester Williams is expected to make his fourth consecutive start since Kevin Vickerson was lost for the season to a hip injury. The first-round selection had three tackles for losses and a sack last week in what was his best performance of his rookie season.
12/09/13 - DT Sylvester Williams made his first career start, but worked mainly in a rotational role, with Terrance Knighton and Mitch Unrein both seeing more playing time over the course of the game. Williams' role will likely increase as the Broncos adjust to life without Kevin Vickerson, who was lost to a season-ending hip injury.
11/27/13 - DT Sylvester Williams is expected to replace the injured Kevin Vickerson in the starting lineup. Williams has improved in the last two weeks, particularly as a pass rusher, but played sparingly until Vickerson's injury.
10/18/13 - DT Sylvester Williams suffered a neck sprain against the Jaguars and was limited in practice three days later. Prior to the injury, Williams had been enjoying his best game as a pro, and finished with one quarterback hit and one tackle for a loss. He was listed as probable Friday.
10/17/13 - --DT Sylvester Williams suffered a neck sprain against the Jaguars and was limited in practice three days later. Prior to the injury, Williams had been enjoying his best game as a pro, and finished with one quarterback hit and one tackle for a loss.
10/15/13 - DT Sylvester Williams suffered a neck sprain against the Jaguars on Sunday. Williams had been enjoying his best game as a pro, and finished with one quarterback hit and one tackle for a loss.
07/31/13 - DT Sylvester Williams is day-to-day after suffering a knee injury during the July 29 practice. Williams came up hobbling, attempted to return, then was pulled out of practice. A subsequent MRI was negative.
