*Isaiah Crowell TSX Player News Log
08/29/14 - RB Isaiah Crowell carried 13 times for 102 yards against the Bears. Sneaking him through to the practice squad will be difficult.
05/13/14 - Browns Sign 11 Undrafted Free Agents: Isaiah Crowell – Transferred to ASU after his freshman season at Georgia where he was named the SEC Freshman of the Year by the Associated Press… Led Georgia with 850 rushing yards and five touchdowns… Finished his ASU career with 1,963 rushing yards on 329 carries (6.0 avg.) with 30 touchdowns… Finished fifth in Hornets history in points scored (180) and sixth in rushing yards… Graduated from Carver Higher School in Columbus, Ga. - Cleveland Browns
11/29/13 - Former Georgia RB Isaiah Crowell to enter 2014 NFL Draft...Listed at 5-11 and 190 pounds, Crowell is a dynamic athlete with the explosive feet and shifty moves to quickly change directions and redirect his momentum to keep defenders off balance. He has a lean frame for the position, but is tougher and more physical than he looks, never afraid to lower his pads and get his nose dirty. He wasn't used much in the passing game, but he has shown soft hands as a pass-catcher and displays accurate awareness in pass protection. Crowell has some durability concerns, but his character and off-field decision-making are the big questions with his draft stock and something that will be thoroughly investigated by NFL teams.

A native of Columbus, Georgia, Crowell stayed home and became a Georgia Bulldog, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors with 850 yards and five scores in 2011. However he was arrested in the summer of 2012 for multiple felony weapon charges, which were later dropped, and dismissed from the program. Instead of sitting out a year and transferring to a different FBS program, Crowell enrolled at FCS-level Alabama State and was the Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2012 with 842 rushing yards and 15 scores as a sophomore. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

11/29/13 - Former Georgia RB Isaiah Crowell to enter 2014 NFL Draft...Alabama State junior running back Isaiah Crowell will enter the 2014 NFL Draft, according to his head coach Reggie Barlow. The former five-star high school recruit was dismissed from Georgia prior to the 2012 season for a weapons-related arrest and transferred to FCS-level Alabama State. "Honestly, when he came here that was one of the things that we talked about when he arrived that he would be here two years and that would be his goal," Barlow said on Thursday regarding Crowell's intentions to play in the NFL next year. "Throughout the season, we haven't had much talk about it but we have confirmed that that's what he's gonna do as of right now."

Crowell is currently ranked as the No. 13 eligible running back and No. 167 prospect overall by NFLDraftScout.com. In 12 games this season, he has rushed for 1,126 yards on 170 carries and 15 touchdowns, averaging 6.7 yards per rush. Crowell has been hampered by an ankle injury the last few weeks and was held to single-digit carries the last two games. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

10/12/13 - Malcolm Cyrus rushed for a career-high 241 yards and two touchdowns as Alabama State defeated Prairie View 48-42 in overtime in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday. Cyrus's 7-yard touchdown run on the first possession in overtime for Alabama State (5-2, 5-1 SWAC) came after Prairie View's Christopher Barrick missed a 36-yard field goal to open the extra session. Prairie View (4-3, 3-2) sent the game to overtime with a touchdown pass from Jerry Lovelocke to Courtney Brown with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Cyrus busted an 80-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Isaiah Crowell added two rushing touchdowns for the Hornets. Crowell, Alabama State's starter, carried just seven times for 51 yards as he nursed an injury. Lovelocke finished 42 of 62 with a career-high 533 yards passing, four touchdown passes and a rushing TD. - AP Sports

10/06/13 - Daniel Duhart completed 19 of 29 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns as Alabama State dominated Texas Southern 34-2 on Saturday night. Alabama State (4-2, 4-1 SWAC) rolled up 464 yards of total offense and has now rushed for at least 200 yards in every game this season, but the Hornets defense was even more dominant. ASU came into the game leading the SWAC in rushing defense, interceptions and sacks.

That trend continued, limiting Texas Southern (0-5, 0-4) to negative-38 yards rushing, forcing three TSU turnovers (one interception) and piling up sacks. The Tigers finished with just 185 total yards and converted 2 of 16 third downs. Duhart threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first two quarters as the Hornets took at 28-0 lead into halftime. Isaiah Crowell led the ASU ground attack with 68 yards and one touchdown on just 14 carries. - AP Sports

10/01/13 - 2013 WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST ADDITION: Alabama State RB Isaiah Crowell, a 5-11, 190-pound junior, has built on his first season in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, when he was named its 2012 newcomer of the year. He has four 100-yard games in Alabama State's first five games and ranks first in the SWAC and fifth in the FCS in rushing yards per game (139). He's so done on only 91 carries for a 7.6 yards-per-carry average. Since transferring from the University of Georgia, Crowell has scored 24 touchdowns in 16 career games with Alabama State, including nine this season. - Sports Network
09/28/13 - Isaiah Crowell ran for 136 yards and four touchdowns to carry Alabama State past Alcorn State 49-30 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Saturday night. Crowell had three touchdowns and 99 yards as the Hornets (3-2, 2-2 SAC) opened a 28-7 lead at the half. Then Leland Baker had a sack, forced fumble and recovery on the first play of the third quarter with Crowell scoring on a 1-yard run on the next play. Alabama State forced four turnovers.

Daniel Duhart hit Brandon Barnes for an 8-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter to make it 42-7. The Braves (3-2, 2-1) never got back in the game but John Gibbs threw two of his three touchdown passes to Jordan Payne in the fourth quarter and Tavoris Doss returned a punt 96 yards with 2:59 remaining. Alcorn State tacked on a field goal on the final play. - AP Sports

09/21/13 - Malcolm Cyrus and Isaiah Crowell each ran for two touchdowns as Alabama State gained 667 total yards in a 52-21 win over Grambling State on Saturday. Cyrus began a string of 28 straight first-half points for Alabama State (2-2, 2-1 SWAC) with a 5-yard score. A 28-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Duhart to Everett Miles, a short touchdown run by Crowell and a 19-yard interception return for a score by Daer Washington gave the Hornets a 28-7 halftime lead.

Grambling State (0-4, 0-2) cut it to 28-21 in the third with two touchdown passes from D.J. Williams to Anthony McGhee. The Hornets responded the following possession with a Cyrus 26-yard touchdown run and pulled away in the fourth with two more touchdown runs, including a 28-yarder by Crowell. Crowell tallied 129 yards on 14 carries. Chester Rogers had six receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown for Grambling State. - AP Sports

Gorden Classic, Crowell tied a career-high with 18 carries while setting two career records. He rushed for 179 yards, the most since his arrival to ASU and his 84-yard run in the first quarter was also a career-high. He caught two passes for another nine yards. He averaged 9.9 yards per carry during the game and now has 272 yards rushing on 29 carries over the first two contests of the season. - SWAC football
