Sam Shields TSX Player News Log
06/04/13 - CB Sam Shields signed his tender with the Green Bay Packers, the team announced Monday. Shields' tender for 2013 is worth $2,023,000. Shields was a restricted free agent, and if he had not signed the tender by June 17, the team could have reduced the deal to 110 percent of Shields' $540,000 price of last season. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was scheduled to meet with the team on Monday to try to reach an agreement on a long-term deal, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported. Shields, 25, played in 10 games for the Packers last season, including eight starts. He had three interceptions and one sack.
01/08/13 - CB Sam Shields, who had the lone interception of fill-in starting quarterback Joe Webb, in the 24-10 victory over Minnesota in a wild-card playoff game Saturday night has three picks in Green Bay's last five games.
01/06/13 - CB Sam Shields intercepted a pass from fill-in starting quarterback Joe Webb in the Packers' 24-10 win over Minnesota in a wild-card playoff game Saturday night. Shields, a third-year player, has three career interceptions in the postseason.
12/24/12 - CB Sam Shields, making a second straight start opposite Tramon Williams, had an interception and his first sack of the season to help Green Bay's defense hold Tennessee to 180 total yards in the Packers' 55-7 rout Sunday. Shields ranks second on the team with three interceptions this season, two coming in the last three games.
12/10/12 - CB Sam Shields returned to game action Sunday night and had a second-quarter interception of Detroit's Matthew Stafford in the Packers' 27-20 win over the Lions. Shields had missed the previous six games because of a high ankle sprain. He replaced ineffective starter Davon House early in the second quarter Sunday.
12/06/12 - CB Sam Shields was upgraded from limited status in practice Wednesday to full-time status in practice Thursday and looks to be on track to return to game action Sunday night, when Green Bay hosts Detroit. The onetime starter has missed the last six games because of a high ankle sprain.
12/05/12 - CB Sam Shields was back practicing on a limited basis Wednesday after having a setback with a high ankle sprain a few weeks ago. Shields, who started five games opposite Tramon Williams early in the season, hasn't played since sustaining the injury in the Oct. 14 win at Houston. He feels he's fully recovered from the injury and is hopeful about playing Sunday night against Detroit.
11/28/12 - CB Sam Shields has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Minnesota. He has missed the last five games because of an ankle injury. Rookie Casey Hayward had been starting in Shields' absence until second-year player Davon House made his first pro start in the 38-10 loss at the New York Giants last Sunday night.
11/22/12 - CB Sam Shields recently suffered a setback with an ankle injury that has kept him out the last four games and will remain sidelined for at least a couple more weeks, head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday. Shields had returned to practice on a limited basis last week. He started five games before sustaining the injury and has been replaced by productive rookie Casey Hayward, who has a team-high five interceptions.
11/18/12 - CB Sam Shields hasn't played the last four games because of a right ankle injury. Shields, who started five games opposite Tramon Williams before getting hurt, returned to practice on a limited basis last week.
