01/18/13 - 2013 SHRINE GAME PRACTICE RISERS: 5. CB Brandon McGee, Miami (Fla.) (5106, 195 -- East Team)...After a very up-and-down senior season for the Hurricanes, McGee is going to force many talent evaluators who saw him this week to go back and watch more tape of the Miami cornerback. In individual match-ups, he stayed patient and disciplined in his stance with the confidence and footwork to stick with the receiver all over the field. Previously thought to be a late-round prospect, McGee was definitely one of the bright spots of the week and has gained some momentum heading into the NFL Combine. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
12/14/12 - Hurricanes cornerback Brandon McGee, who concluded his career with 24 consecutive starts and graduated Thursday from UM with a bachelor's degree in sports administration and a minor in entrepreneurship, has accepted an invitation to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game. The game will be held Jan. 19, 2013, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
McGee, a former All-Broward First Team selection at Plantation High will be the 44th Miami Hurricane to play in the East-West Shrine Game and first UM defensive back since Al Blades in 2001. As a senior in 2012, he started all 12 games at defensive back and finished tied for sixth on the team with 54 tackles. He snagged a team-high-tying two interceptions and also notched four tackles-for-loss. - Manny Navarro, The Miami Herald
09/11/12 - Top 10 Most surprising stats of the early season: 8: Miami is No. 114 in passing defense? It's Year Two in DC Mark D'Onofrio's system and the Canes have gone from bad to much, much worse. There's been almost zero pass rush, a staggering number of assignment busts and players looking lost. They're allowing 10.5 yards per pass attempt, which is an insanely high number especially for a team that has played two QBs who were ranked 77th (Collin Klein) and 100th (Chase Rettig) nationally in passing efficiency last year. In 2011, only one defense even allowed worse than 9 yards per attempt, Ball State at 9.25. Last year, UM was No. 29 in pass defense and allowed 7.54 yards per attempt. - Bruce Feldman, CBSSports.com
08/08/12 - Brandon McGee, Miami's senior CB, started all 12 games last season. He registered 38 tackles and only one interception, the first of his career. The expectations were high for Brandon as fall camp started, not a week ago. After four practices, McGee lost his black jersey, signifying not only him being a starter, but a hard worker, to all-everything freshman Tracy Howard. “I think Brandon has got to be consistent and be the same guy every day,” coach Al Golden told the media before the first of two practices Wednesday. “I think Tracy snatched up an opportunity and there's going to be a battle there.” - Brian London, Cane Insider
