Peterson has 4,018 rushing yards in 39 career games. Chuck Foreman had held the team mark, getting to 4,000 rushing yards in his 57th game.

The Pro Bowl cornerback has been replaced by a combination of Benny Sapp, Karl Paymah and Asher Allen -– Allen has been used in the nickel package. While they have done a nice job, Winfield's return will help the pass defense.

Nov 17 2009 - Sidney Rice WR Sidney Rice continues to have a Pro Bowl-type season. He caught seven passes for 201 yards in the Vikings' victory over Detroit, putting him only 10 yards off the franchise's all-time record for a regular-season game. Rice, who had catches of 56, 43 and 43 yards, now has 786 receiving yards, best in the NFC, on a team-high 44 catches and two touchdowns. Rice is only two catches from equaling his total from his first two regular-seasons combined.

Nov 17 2009 - Percy Harvin WR Percy Harvin, a leading candidate for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, continues to show just how gifted a player he is on a game-by-game basis. The latest example came Sunday when he took a 5-yard pass from Brett Favre, bounced off a Lions linebacker and went 40 yards to set up a field goal. Harvin finished with three catches for 53 yards, had a seven-yard run and returned one kick for 29 yards. Harvin is averaging an NFL-best 30.7 yards on 29 kick returns with two touchdowns.

Nov 17 2009 - Bernard Berrian WR Bernard Berrian played on Sunday despite being limited all last week in practice because of a left hamstring injury suffered on Oct. 25 at Pittsburgh. He caught three passes but they only went for 22 yards. Berrian has struggled with injuries to both hamstrings this season and is averaging only 10.7 yards per reception after leading the NFL with an average of 20.1 yards per catch.

Nov 17 2009 - Visanthe Shiancoe TE Visanthe Shiancoe continues to lead the Vikings with six touchdown receptions, although he did not catch a scoring strike from Brett Favre in the victory over Detroit. Shiancoe did have three receptions for 43 yards and is tied with Chester Taylor for fourth on the Vikings with 25 receptions for 246 yards.

Nov 17 2009 - Chester Taylor RB Chester Taylor continues to be a part of the Vikings' third-down package and has 25 receptions for 216 yards. Taylor has only carried the ball 52 times for 139 yards with one touchdown. He did have seven rushing attempts for 16 yards against the Lions. Taylor is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and might want to explore the opportunity to get more playing time with another team.

Nov 17 2009 - Adrian Peterson RB Adrian Peterson, the NFL's leading rusher in 2008, had his third 100-yard performance of the season on Sunday against the Lions, gaining 133 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns. Peterson also rushed for two touchdowns and now has 11 TDs on the season to rank near the top of the league. Peterson's 917 rushing yards put him second to Tennessee's Chris Johnson, who has 1,091 yards.

Jackson has seen action in four games, including last Sunday against the Lions, but in each case it has been because the Vikings have had a comfortable lead and coach Brad Childress wanted to rest Favre. Jackson failed to complete either of his two passes attempts Sunday.

Favre leads the NFL with a 107.5 passer rating and has 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions through nine games. The fewest interceptions Favre has thrown in a season were 13 in 1992, '95 and '96.

Nov 16 2009 - Adrian Peterson RB Adrian Peterson was charged with two lost fumbles but he also rushed for 133 yards on 18 carries and had two touchdowns. That marked the third game this season in which Peterson has accumulated more than 100 yards on the ground. He now has 11 rushing touchdowns, one off his career high that he established as a rookie in 2007. Peterson's first fumble was charged to him on a reverse play in which he attempted to flip the ball to Percy Harvin but did not do an adequate job. His second fumble was legit and came in the second quarter on what looked like it might be a 61-yard touchdown run. After breaking four tackles and bursting away from the Lions defense, cornerback Phillip Buchanon caught up to him around the Lions 18-yard line and punched the ball loose. It was recovered by Detroit in the end zone. The miscue might have been costly but Peterson more than made up for it with his total contribution Sunday.

The Vikings want to make sure Winfield's right foot can absorb the pounding of running on turf before they let him return to action.
Winfield, who was hurt Oct. 18 against Baltimore, missed the Vikings' two games before their bye week and most likely will return Nov. 22 against Seattle.
