Nov 20 2009 - Ahmad Bradshaw RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot/ankle) hasn't had any setbacks this week, according to coach Tom Coughlin. "He doesn't get overworked, but he does have his timing plays and that type of thing," said Coughlin.
Nov 20 2009 - Aaron Ross CB Aaron Ross (hamstring) continues to take part in practice and coach Tom Coughlin said "I would think so" when as if Ross would be a game-time decision. "He is making, as far as I can tell, he is making progress," said Coughlin. "He's a long stretch everyday. When he comes out and runs around he hasn't been set back that I know of. He hasn't said a word of that."
Nov 19 2009 - Travis Beckum TE Travis Beckum, the Giants' third-round pick, has quietly slipped into oblivion in recent weeks as he continues to learn the H-back role. Beckum has been active for all nine games, mostly in a special teams role, but has taken a few snaps on offense where he has five catches for 35 yards and no touchdowns. Beckum remains optimistic that his reps will increase on offense in the Giants' remaining seven games.
Nov 19 2009 - Danny Clark LB Danny Clark, who is in the final year of his two-year contract with the Giants, was surprised by some questioning from a reporter who asked if it was difficult having a younger player (Clint Sintim) attempt to take his job. "Take it? You're saying the wrong questions," Clark said. "We've got a good team concept, so he's a kid that's doing well and he'll play well."
Nov 19 2009 - Ahmad Bradshaw RB Ahmad Bradshaw, who normally spends the Thursday practice in a walking boot in the team's rehab area, took some limited reps in practice.
Nov 19 2009 - Clint Sintim LB Clint Sintim praised fellow LB Danny Clark, with whom Sintim has been sharing snaps on the strong side, for helping to make the rookie's transition to the NFL easier. "Danny's been a great asset," said Sintim. "We talk about what happened on the last series, what I need to do better, or what he needs to do better. So it's been a great relationship."
Nov 19 2009 - Aaron Ross CB Aaron Ross continues to be limited in practice this week as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. If Ross does play on Sunday, he's not sure what role he'll have, as he's been doing work at both corner and safety. "Right now they are working me in and trying to see how my leg holds up," he said. "I am just waiting for them to call number 31 out there."
Nov 18 2009 - Eli Manning QB Eli Manning told reporters earlier in the week that his injured foot was no longer an issue. However, he was listed on the team's weekly practice report. Regardless, he took his normally scheduled practice load so it would appear that the Giants' decision to list him is just a technicality.
Nov 18 2009 - Ahmad Bradshaw RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot/ankle) remains the only player on a managed practice schedule. Bradshaw did not practice Wednesday and won't practice Thursday, but he should be able to do some limited work on Friday, as he has done in the past.
Nov 18 2009 - Aaron Ross CB Aaron Ross (hamstring) remains optimistic that he will be able to participate in his first game of 2009 this weekend. Ross was limited in the Wednesday practice but said he felt good afterwards and moved around well. |
Nov 18 2009 - Brandon Jacobs RB Brandon Jacobs remains in search of his first 100-yard rushing game this season, and his first in more than a year. After getting off to a slow start to this season when he was asked to execute a number of runs that were not quite an ideal fit for his style, Jacobs has returned to running plays that are a better match. As such, he's been averaging 5.1 yards per carry over his last four games.
Nov 18 2009 - Clint Sintim LB Clint Sintim, who saw his first extended action on defense before the bye week, played well enough to earn even more time as part of a developing rotation with veteran Danny Clark at the strong side linebacker spot. "I do expect him to be as involved as we can make that (happen)," said Coughlin. "He improved the second time around, so we're looking for more improvement."
Nov 18 2009 - Jeff Feagles P Jeff Feagles is leading the NFC Pro Bowl balloting fan vote with 52,952 votes as of November 16. Through nine games this season, the 43-year old Feagles is currently ranked last in the NFC, and 31st league-wide with his 35.8 net average.
Nov 18 2009 - Ramses Barden WR Ramses Barden, who was last active for New York in Week 3 against Tampa Bay, could be getting close to making a return to the field as soon as this week if he can convince the coaches that he has what it takes to contribute on special teams. The 6-foot-6 Barden's size makes him a very intriguing red zone and slot receiver option that could create favorable matchups for the Giants.
Nov 18 2009 - Kevin Dockery CB Kevin Dockery could be in danger of losing snaps when CB Aaron Ross returns to action. Dockery has struggled the past few weeks in coverage and has already been passed on the depth chart by rookie Bruce Johnson in the nickel package. If Ross does come back, the coaches will probably want to ease him back into the game, so his snaps could come at Dockery's expense.
Nov 17 2009 - Steve Smith WR Steve Smith is not only having a career year as the Giants leader in receptions (61), receiving yards (719) and touchdowns (5), he's also been the receiver of choice when it comes to the red zone. This season, Smith has been targeted 11 times when his team has been inside of the 20, more than any other Giants receiver.
Nov 17 2009 - Aaron Ross CB Aaron Ross, who returned to practice last week from a hamstring injury and took roughly half of the snaps, is expected to have his workload increased this week as the coaches try to ease the third-year cornerback back into a football routine. Ross has been targeting this weekend's game against Atlanta for his return, but whether he actually plays depends on how well he responds in practice this week as well as what the coaches determine they need as far as personnel numbers are concerned.
Nov 17 2009 - Clint Sintim LB Clint Sintim, who has been earning game snaps as part of the regular defense at the strong side linebacker position, will be looking to increase his workload in the coming weeks. Sintim's position coach, Jim Herrmann, said that the biggest difference for the rookie is that he's fully healthy, which has allowed him to get more involved in the action. "I think him getting in the game the last couple of games is good because he realizes that it's fast. You can't simulate that speed in practice, as much as we coaches try to. So I think his development will be better each week because now he knows what to expect."
Nov 17 2009 - Mathias Kiwanuka DE Mathias Kiwanuka continues to have a solid season as a member of the Giants' defensive line rotation. Playing both defensive end and defensive tackle, Kiwanuka is the team leader in quarterback hits (22) and quarterback hurries (15). He is tied for second with four tackles for loss. With 3.0 sacks, he's second on the team behind Justin Tuck (3.5. Kiwanuka is fifth on the team with 37 total tackles (20 solo).

Nov 17 2009 - Mario Manningham WR Mario Manningham is the Giants' team leader in big pass plays of 20-plus yards. Manningham, whose longest reception of the season went for 49 yards, has had 10 "big play" catches.

Nov 17 2009 - Kevin Boss TE Kevin Boss might not get many passes thrown his way, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't been contributing. Of his 19 receptions thus far, 13, or 68.4 percent of them, have gone for first downs.
Nov 17 2009 - Ahmad Bradshaw RB Ahmad Bradshaw has seen his per-carry average drop significantly since his foot injury was disclosed. Through the first six games, Bradshaw averaged 6.1 yards per carry. However, over the last three games, Bradshaw has averaged 2.6 yards per carry while receiving roughly the same number of snaps as he did earlier in the season.
Nov 17 2009 - Eli Manning QB Eli Manning has completed 57.9 percent of his pass attempts, down from the 60.3 figure he had improved to during the 2008 season. Manning's average-yards-per-attempt figure of 6.76 is also lower than last year's 7.67.
Nov 16 2009 - Eli Manning QB Eli Manning started out on fire in the Giants first five games. However, a foot injury seemed to affect him a little more than he was willing to admit and his decision-making became suspect as he often tried to force things that weren't there, which resulted in costly turnovers. However, the passing game woes weren't all on Manning as his receivers suddenly had trouble getting open consistently.

Nov 16 2009 - Justin Tuck DE Justin Tuck admitted that his sore shoulder, for which he's been wearing a harness since Week 2, has been an issue in his performance, but was also quick to not use the injury as an excuse. "If you go out there and play, then you go out there and play, but obviously I haven't been 100 percent," he said.
Nov 16 2009 - Brandon Jacobs RB Brandon Jacobs has begun to look more like his old self in the last few weeks largely due to the coaches giving him more plays that better suit his north-south style of running. Earlier in the season, Jacobs received a number of developing runs requiring more of an east-west style of running which he struggled to execute given his long stride. He is currently averaging 3.9 yards per carry for the season, but since returning to runs that suit his physical abilities, he is averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
Nov 16 2009 - Eli Manning QB Eli Manning is optimistic that his foot problems are finally behind him. Crediting the time off, he said, "The foot feels fine; it's not an issue. That injury is, I think, over and done with."
Nov 12 2009 - Danny Ware RB Danny Ware, who has been active the last three weeks since suffering an elbow injury in the Giants' season opener, could see a bigger role in the remaining games. Ware, whom the coaches envision as a third-down back, first needs to alleviate concerns about ball security, which have occurred due to his bad arm.
Nov 12 2009 - Mathias Kiwanuka DE Mathias Kiwanuka was praised by defensive line coach Mike Waufle. Kiwanuka lines up at defensive end on run situations and at defensive tackle on passing downs, where he's recorded three sacks this season. Kiwanuka's dual role is similar to what fellow DE Justin Tuck was asked to do in past years.
Nov 11 2009 - Kevin Boothe OL Kevin Boothe (tendonitis) did not work during the Giants' bye week practice. Boothe is expected back at practice on Monday when the team reconvenes.
Nov 11 2009 - Hakeem Nicks WR Hakeem Nicks did not work during the Giants' bye week practice. Nicks had a sprained foot earlier in the season, but the only explanation given by head coach Tom Coughlin was that Nicks' had been given an injection and the doctors felt it would be better if he not practice. Nicks is expected back at practice on Monday when the team reconvenes.
Nov 11 2009 - Aaron Ross CB Aaron Ross (hamstring) was back working on individual drills with the defensive backs. Ross also worked as part of the scout team on special teams. |
Nov 11 2009 - D.J. Johnson CB Dominique "DJ" Johnson was signed to the Giants' 53-man roster. Johnson, 6-2, 200 pounds, was previously on Denver's practice squad and has had some college experience at free safety and kickoff coverage.

Nov 11 2009 - D.J. Johnson CB D.J.
Nov 11 2009 - Gerris Wilkinson LB Gerris Wilkinson (wrist) was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Wilkinson, the Giants' leader in special teams tackles with 12, has been a disappointment at linebacker due in part to his inability to stay on the field. He is in the final year of his contract, and given the depth in front of him, it wouldn't be surprising if he has played his last game for the Giants.
Nov 10 2009 - Jonathan Goff LB Jonathan Goff, the heir apparent to LB Antonio Pierce, made a couple of defining hits on special teams in Sunday's loss against San Diego, drawing inquiries about whether he might soon start to see time with the defense. "Well, he has done an outstanding job on special teams and he really has become a core player and a very physical player there," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He is a young guy and we look forward to continuing that development."
Nov 10 2009 - Gerris Wilkinson LB Gerris Wilkinson, who had surgery on Monday after suffering a dislocated right wrist, is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Wilkinson, the Giants' leader in special teams tackles with 12, has been a disappointment at linebacker due in part to his inability to stay on the field. He is in the final year of his contract, and given the depth in front of him, it wouldn't be surprising if he has played his last game for the Giants.
Nov 10 2009 - Clint Sintim LB Clint Sintim, who alternated defensive series with starter Danny Clark on the strong side, could see his reps increased even more in the coming weeks. "The coaches told me that I was going to get reps in the game and that if I did well with them, I'd probably get more." Head coach Tom Coughlin said he thought the rookie linebacker, one of two second-round picks from this year's draft, played well.
Nov 10 2009 - Osi Umenyiora DE Osi Umenyiora said he was generally pleased with the amount of pressure the defense managed to get against San Diego, but that it could have been better. "We only had two sacks. It seemed like we should have had eight. We only came out of there with two, so we have to find a way to get more sacks."
Nov 10 2009 - Terrell Thomas CB Terrell Thomas made a team-best nine tackles against San Diego, his high for the season. His previous high was seven tackles two weeks ago against Arizona in a game in which he also had an interception and five passes defensed.
Nov 10 2009 - Ramses Barden WR Ramses Barden, who has mostly been inactive for the Giants, could soon see the field in the role of a red zone target for QB Eli Manning. "I think going forward, Ramses Barden is going to end up being a guy we will call upon as he develops," said head coach Tom Coughlin. The Giants have been bringing Barden along slowly as the rookie receiver continues to adjust from Cal-Poly's small program to the higher tempo pace of the NFL.
Nov 10 2009 - Steve Smith WR Steve Smith is quickly earning a reputation as "Mr. Third Down." In Sunday's loss to San Diego, Smith was targeted five times on third down with at least five to go, and successfully converted on three of the five passes, including a six-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter that tied the score 7-7.

Boss managed to hang onto the ball for a nine-yard reception.
