 Latest Ravens Player Notes
Sep 2 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither's back condition kept him out of Thursday's preseason finale. He could be out for the regular-season opener.

Sep 2 2010 - Oniel Cousins
OT Oniel Cousins (concussion) didn't dress for Thursday's preseason finale. His availability for the regular-season opener is unknown.

Sep 1 2010 - Donte' Stallworth
Donte' Stallworth had successful surgery on his broken foot, the wide receiver announced on his Twitter account. "The surgery was successful, thank you all for your prayers," he tweeted. "Love you much... Now back on the grind, I'll be back SOON!!!" Stallworth broke his foot while running a route in Saturday's preseason game against the New York Giants. The Ravens expect him to return around the bye week, which is in late October.

Sep 1 2010 - Terrence Cody
NT Terrence Cody had surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee last week and will be out for two weeks, coach John Harbaugh said. The second-round pick is considered questionable for the Sept. 13 opener at the New York Jets. "There's a chance he could be back for the opener against the Jets or, for the bigger guys, sometimes it takes a little longer," Harbaugh said. "The plus is we have a lot of depth on the defensive line right now. That'll be day-to-day as we get closer to the game."

Sep 1 2010 - Todd Heap
TE Todd Heap has put together a strong preseason, leading the team with eight receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown. He is healthier than he has been in years.

Sep 1 2010 - Mark Clayton
WR Mark Clayton will remain the Ravens No. 3 wide receiver after sustaining a mild concussion in the third preseason game. He is expected to play in the season opener.

Sep 1 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither is still expected to miss at least a week with a back injury. He could be sidelined for the season opener. Oniel Cousins or Marshal Yanda would start in place of Gaither.

Aug 31 2010 - Josh Wilson
CB Josh Wilson was traded to the Ravens from Seattle for a fifth-round pick. The Ravens need bodies at the position. Domonique Foxworth is out for the season with a knee injury and Baltimore planned to use Chris Carr and Fabian Washington as its top two cornerbacks.

Aug 31 2010 - Ed Reed
S Ed Reed could play in the regular-season opener. Reed, recovering from hip surgery, hasn't practiced but is running and working out in non-contact sessions. He met with coach John Harbaugh, general manager Ozzie Newsome and other defensive coaches on Tuesday. Harbaugh told the National Football Post: "He wants to come back, but he understands the situation, too."

Aug 31 2010 - Terrence Cody
DT Terrence Cody could miss 2-3 weeks after surgery to repair a slightly torn meniscus in his left knee, coach John Harbaugh said.

Aug 31 2010 - Matt Lawrence
RB Matt Lawrence was placed on the physically unable to perform list with a knee injury that dates to last season.

Aug 31 2010 - Brendon Ayanbadejo
LB Brendon Ayanbadejo was placed on the physically unable to perform list with a quad injury that dates to last season.

Aug 30 2010 - Marcus Paschal
S Marcus Paschal hasn't played in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.

Aug 30 2010 - Daniel Sanders
C Daniel Sanders was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Aug 29 2010 - Jameel McClain
LB Jameel McClain made his third straight start at inside linebacker next to Ray Lewis. This increases his chances of winning that spot from Dannell Ellerbe and Tavares Gooden.

Aug 29 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither has a thoracic disc injury, which won't require surgery but could put him in jeopardy for the regular-season opener. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said there is a chance that Gaither could recover in enough time to start at right tackle in the Sept. 13 season opener.

Aug 29 2010 - Demetrius Williams
WR Demetrius Williams could benefit the most from the injury to Donte' Stallworth (broken foot). Williams is the most experienced wide receiver of those on the roster bubble.

Aug 29 2010 - Mark Clayton
WR Mark Clayton sustained a mild concussion and could miss the rest of the preseason. He should be ready for the Sept. 13 regular-season opener.

Aug 29 2010 - Sergio Kindle
LB Sergio Kindle is "ahead of schedule" and hasn't been ruled out for the season, according to the team. Kindle, the team's top draft pick in the 2010 draft, is scheduled to meet with neurologists in Baltimore in early September. He fractured his skull in late July when he fell down two flights of stairs. Because he is unsigned, Kindle can't meet with team officials or come to Ravens headquarters. The Ravens are likely awaiting a prognosis on Kindle before they restart contract negotiations. Kindle has recently begun to work out, according to coach John Harbaugh.

Aug 29 2010 - Donte' Stallworth
WR Donte' Stallworth will miss about two months after breaking his foot against the Giants. "The good news is it is not a season-ending injury," coach John Harbaugh said. "We'll get it operated on right away and put a screw in it. Hopefully, we'll get him back by the bye week (on Oct. 31)."

Aug 25 2010 - Terrence Cody
NT Terrence Cody is questionable for Saturday's game against the Giants with swelling in a bursa sac in his left knee.

Aug 25 2010 - Lardarius Webb
CB Lardarius Webb passed his physical. Webb tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in December.

Aug 25 2010 - Trevor Pryce
DE Trevor Pryce took a $2.5 millino salary cut after last season but told the National Football Post he can make up the reduction by achieving multiple financial incentives. "Yeah, I can get all of it back," Pryce said. "It's very doable, put it like that." Pryce was originally scheduled to make $4.5 million during the final year of a five-year, $25 million contract that included $10 million in guaranteed money.

Aug 24 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither said the back injury that is keeping him sidelined is a thoracic disc injury. Coach John Harbaugh has estimated a 2-3 week recovery from what he said was a small tear in Gaither's back. "It's not a serious thing, but it's going to keep him out for a couple weeks until it settles down, because it's what's causing the spasms apparently," Harbaugh said. "He's going to have to work as hard as he can, and we'll have to try and work it out."

Aug 24 2010 - Sergio Kindle
LB Sergio Kindle could join the Ravens in early September. He's been in Texas since he fractured his skull in a fall down two flights of stairs. His health will be evaluated by the team before a decision is made on whether Kindle is on the non-football injury list or he could be on the physically unable to perform list, which would allow him to return to the field around midseason. Kindle, however, remains unsigned.

Aug 23 2010 - Oniel Cousins
OT Oneil Cousins is still bothered by light, a common symptom experienced after a concussion. He's been wearing sunglasses and the team will be cautious moving forward.

Aug 22 2010 - Mark Clayton
WR Mark Clayton has moved back ahead of Donte' Stallworth as the team's No. 3 wide receiver. He started training camp as the No. 4.

Aug 22 2010 - Tony Moll
OT Tony Moll is working at right tackle with the first-team offense after injuries to Jared Gaither and Oniel Cousins.

Aug 22 2010 - Arthur Jones
DT Arthur Jones announced via his Twitter account (Artj97) that the league fined him $5,000 for a low block applied during cornerback Cary Williams' interception return in the third quarter of the Ravens' preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. "Lol you have to love the NFL," wrote Jones, the team's second pick of the fifth round of the NFL draft. "My first NFL preseason game and I get fine $5,000 for an Accidental block below the waist."

Aug 22 2010 - Lardarius Webb
VB Lardarius Webb is "very close" to coming off the physically unable to perform list. Webb tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in December and hasn't practiced with the team since. But the team doesn't expect Webb to remain on the PUP for much longer. "He's very close. He's right there," Harbaugh said. "That's up to the doctors to make the decision about when he practices. But he's right there and I know he wants to practice."

Aug 22 2010 - Fabian Washington
CB Fabian Washington played his first game in nine months when he suited up for Baltimore's second preseason game, a 23-3 win at the Washington Redskins. He wasn't tested much in his first action since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament on Nov. 22, but he was satisfied with the results. "I felt great," Washington said. "My knee held up. Mentally, I felt great."

Aug 19 2010 - Willis McGahee
RB Willis McGahee is drawing considerable interest in the trade market, the Baltimore Sun reports. At this point, the Ravens are unlikely to discuss trading Ray Rice's top backup. The Ravens have had injury issues, especially at cornerback, and might consider a player-for-player deal if the right offer comes along.

Aug 18 2010 - Arthur Jones
DL Arthur Jones was fined $5,000 for an illegal block below the waist during the team's first preseason game, the National Football Post reported.

Aug 18 2010 - Tavares Gooden
LB Tavares Gooden is sidelined by the neck injury he suffered in the preseason opener against the Panthers. Gooden had returned to practice but the team has decided he will only improve with rest.

Aug 18 2010 - Le'Ron McClain
RB LeRon McClain didn't practice Wednesday morning because of a tight back.

Aug 18 2010 - Oniel Cousins
OT Oniel Cousins was taken from the practice field on a cart because of severe headaches, coach John Harbaugh said. Cousins is likely to be subjected to concussion tests.

Aug 18 2010 - Tavares Gooden
LB Tavares Gooden practiced with the first team on Tuesday. Gooden and Dannell Ellerbe are competing for the inside linebacker job next to Ray Lewis. Gooden was held out of contact drills with a back injury. Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said Gooden was injured against the Panthers.

Aug 17 2010 - David Hale
OL David Hale (back) will have an MRI this week but the team is waiting for pain and swelling to subside, the National Football Post reported.

Aug 16 2010 - Tavares Gooden
LB Tavares Gooden was held out of contact drills with a back injury. Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said Gooden was injured against the Panthers.

Aug 16 2010 - Brendon Ayanbadejo
LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (quadriceps) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to open training camp and he might not play in the preseason. The three-time Pro Bowl selection tore the quadriceps muscle in his left leg on Oct. 4 and went on injured reserve. He said last month that he is no longer experiencing any pain but hasn't been cleared to resume running yet. That could happen as early as Thursday.

Aug 16 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither could miss up to six weeks with a small tear in his back, the National Football Post reported. Gaither flew to California to see another back specialist, coach John Harbaugh said. He hasn't practiced since Aug. 5. "I don't know the medical term for it," Harbaugh said. "It's not a serious thing, but it's going to keep him out for a couple weeks until it settles down because it's what's causing the spasms apparently."

Aug 16 2010 - David Hale
OL David Hale was carted off the field with a back injury suffered at practice Monday. He was driven to the ground by DT Haloti Ngata. Hale has been dealing with back stiffness throughout training camp.

Aug 16 2010 - Brad Jones
S Brad Jones was re-signed by the Ravens on Saturday (Aug. 14).

Aug 15 2010 - Morgan Cox
LS Morgan Cox is the Ravens' new long snapper after the team cut Matt Katula.

Aug 15 2010 - Oniel Cousins
OT Oniel Cousins started at right tackle with Jared Gaither out in the Ravens' 17-12 victory over the Carolina Panthers . "I felt like I did OK," he said after the preseason opener. "There's obviously things that I need to work on. I'm going to go watch the tapes and take the coaching and try to do better next time." Cousins seemed to hold up well with his pass blocking. However, he was pushed back a couple times on a few runs, even bumping into fullback Le'Ron McClain at one point. "The thing with the offensive line is, you're never as good as you think you are, and you're never as bad as you think you are," Cousins said. "But there are a lot of things that I can work on and a lot of things that we can work on to improve." Cousins, a third-round pick in 2008, was activated from the team's physically unable to perform list only a week before the preseason opener. He had undergone surgery to remove a cyst from his esophagus that forced him to miss many offseason workouts and the first eight days of camp.

Aug 15 2010 - Jared Gaither
OT Jared Gaither will miss the next two to three weeks with a "very small tear" in his back, according to coach John Harbaugh. Gaither flew to California earlier in the week to see another back specialist. He hasn't practiced since Aug. 5. "I don't know the medical term for it," Harbaugh said. "It's not a serious thing, but it's going to keep him out for a couple weeks until it settles down because it's what's causing the spasms apparently."

Aug 8 2010 - Jameel McClain
LB Jameel McClain has taken control of the starting job next to Ray Lewis. He is taking more reps there than Tavares Gooden and Dannell Ellerbe.

Aug 8 2010 - Ken Hamlin
S Ken Hamlin is working with the second-team defense but he is looking to beat out Tom Zbikowski for the starting job. The Ravens need someone to fill in for Ed Reed (hip), who is expected to miss games early in the regular season.

Aug 8 2010 - Tom Zbikowski
S Tom Zbikowski continues to fill in for Ed Reed with the first-team defense. He is starting over Ken Hamlin, who was signed this offseason. Zbikowski has been all around the ball this training camp.

Aug 8 2010 - Ed Reed
S Ed Reed isn't close to practicing, but he is trying to stay connected to the team. He recently spoke to the defense at length. "He's into it," coach John Harbaugh said. Reed has watched practice from the sideline this training camp as he recovers from offseason hip surgery. "His status is the same," Harbaugh said. "I like what I see when I see him working. He looks like he's progressing."
