Week 7: A quiet day for Thompson in Penn State's 63-0 mauling of UMass. The punter kicked just once, a 47-yarder that went out of bounds, so no return. — JH

Week 5: Thompson punted three times in Penn State's 41-13 road blowout of Northwestern. He averaged 46.0 yards per punt, with a net of 41.0. One of his three attempts was returned, and for 15 yards. — JH

Week 4: Given the dominant nature of Penn State's 31-0 win, Thompson didn't have worry about controlling the field position. He did punt four times for an average of 37.8, with a long of 42 yards. Iowa returned three of his punts for a total of 15 yards, making his 34.8 net average on the day his lowest of the season. — JH

Week 3: Thompson punted six times in Penn State's 30-13 win over Illinois. He averaged 43.8 yards with a long of 45 and a net of 38.5 yards. Thompson did average a season-low hang-time of 3.35 seconds, which contributed to Illinois getting 32 yards total on four returns. Thompson also downed one kick inside the Illini 20. — JH

Week 2: As in Week 1, Thompson wasn't called on that much as Penn State's offense rolled up 541 yards of total offense in the Nittany Lions' 63-7 thrashing of Delaware. Thompson punted twice, averaging 45.5 yards per effort, and had one of his two efforts downed inside the 20-yard line. — JH
