Chris Wormley

DE/ST-KB, DT · Michigan
Although he isn't the type of edge player who will consistently threaten the corner, lacking the natural explosiveness or diversity in his rush, Wormley he has very few weaknesses as a strong-side NFL defensive end, projecting as a high floor, low ceiling prospect who won't hurt you on the field. A three-year starter, Wormley has the size of a defensive tackle, but played primarily at left and right defensive end in Michigan's base four-man front, occasionally kicking inside. He packs a punch at the point of attack to control blocks, using his short-area quickness, flexible body type and backfield vision to quickly find the ballcarrier. Wormley carries himself with a professional, goal-oriented mind-set and is NFL ready both on and off the field.

"chris is a leader...the highest character, at the highest level."). voted a team captain as a senior.

WEAKNESSES

strengths

Stocky, well-distributed body mass. Balanced movement skills with impressive lateral quickness and range for a 300-pounder. Converts his first step to power and extends his reach to drive blockers backwards. Sets a hard edge due to knee bend, strong base and violence in his punch. Strong hands to stack and rip through block attempts. Very controlled in his pass rush and doesn't slow through contact. Reads his keys quickly and rarely fooled by misdirection or fakes. Uses his length to obstruct passing lanes and tallied two blocked kicks as a senior. Very likeable teammate in the locker room with mature, coachable qualities (Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh

not a dynamic athlete who will capture the edge with speed alone. lacks explosive traits and tends to be too methodical with his process. inconsistent pass rush plan and needs to be more efficient with his move-to-move transition. will try and go around blockers too often instead of relying on his power. played on a deep defensive line and wasn't asked to be an every-down player. older prospect and will be a 24-year old nfl rookie. injuries haven't been an issue, but did tear his acl (aug. 2012), missing all of the 2012 season.
