Justin Zimmer

DT, DE · Ferris State
A no-star recruit out of high school, Zimmer redshirted at Division-II Ferris State in 2011 and became an impact starter as a sophomore in 2013. He set career-bests as a senior in 2015 with 81 tackles, 26.0 tackles for loss (school-record) and 13.0 sacks, earning All-American honors and First Team All-GLIAC honors for the third straight season.

zimmer showed off his athleticism during the nfl regional combine, which shows on tape when he is able to stunt and attack space, but he is a much different player in congestion. an ineffective point of attack player, he stands up off the snap and immediately surrenders any leverage, failing to generate consistent push and struggling with angle blocks. zimmer isn't an instigator and plays too reactive, allowing blockers to dictate the action.

IN OUR VIEW

he has intriguing testing numbers, productive resume and off-the-charts dedication to his craft, but the tape (vs. d-ii competition) isn't as impressive - practice squad candidate in the nfl.
