Former Syracuse RB Sean Tucker cleared to play with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa, Fla. — Former Syracuse running back Sean Tucker is finally on the field for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tucker had been held out of Buccaneers practice since April with an undisclosed medical condition that came to light during the NFL draft process.
Head coach Todd Bowles said this week that Tucker has been medically cleared to practice with the Buccaneers at the team’s training camp in Tampa.
Tucker signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent. Tucker was projected as a mid-round NFL draft pick before the medical condition was flagged at the NFL Combine, causing him to miss that event and SU’s Pro Day.
He did not have a chance to perform in front of scouts until just three days before the draft began.

Tucker would not say what the medical condition was that held him off the field when he met with reporters earlier this week.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Tucker said of returning to the field. “With all the things that have been going around, being able to put that aside and showcase and remind people what I bring to the table and what I can do, that’s high on my priority list. I’m 100 percent, ready to go.”
The Buccaneers finished with the fewest rushing yards per game last season in the NFL, with just 1,308 total rushing yards.
“He has just as much of an opportunity as anybody else does,” Bowles said. “He has great college credentials. We knew that when we got him.”
Tucker ranks third in school history with 3,182 career yards. He set the school’s single-season record with 1,496 yards during the 2021 season.
Sean Tucker’s UDFA contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers comes with six figures guaranteed (report)
