Warren gives Tennessee a huge (literally) 19th commitment
Tennessee received its biggest football commitment of the 2024 signing cycle Monday.
Literally.
Bennett Warren, a 6-foot-7, 330-pound, offensive tackle from Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, gave a nonbinding pledge to the Volunteers. Warren, the No. 8 tackle and No. 143 overall prospect on the 247Sports.com composite rankings, took official visits in June to Texas A&M, Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
“They’re having a whole lot of fun over there,” Warren said of the Vols in an interview with 247Sports, “and they’re definitely working.”
Warren cited Josh Heupel’s energy in Tennessee’s two-year turnaround under his guidance as a reason for his choice, and he also praised Vols offensive line coach Glen Elarbee, noting how Elarbee helped develop tackle Darnell Wright into the 10th overall pick in April’s NFL draft. Wright was selected by the Chicago Bears.
Tennessee now has 19 commitments and is eighth in the 247Sports team rankings for the 2024 cycle, trailing Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State and Notre Dame.
The Vols landed Warren’s commitment on the eve of players reporting for Heupel’s third preseason camp in Knoxville. The first practice is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
