Broncos DE Gotsis cleared of rape charges

Denver Broncos defensive end Adam Gotsis will not be charged in connection with his March arrest in Atlanta on a rape accusation stemming from a 2013 incident while he was attending Georgia Tech, Fulton County District Attorney's office announced Wednesday. In a statement emailed to The Denver Post, district attorney Paul Howard said the decision was reached "after a careful and thorough investigation. ... My office understands the sensitivity and significance of these investigations, but the evidence presented does not warrant any further action in this case." "You don't really know what happening but you have faith things are going to work out," Gotsis said, via the Denver Post. "It was frustrating at times. It's harder when you're alone and not in the (Broncos') building. When you're in the building, you're so caught up in football. When you're alone and thinking about it ... that's why you have the friends and family to support you when you have no one else." According to an incident report by Atlanta police, Gotsis was accused of overcoming the will of a 25-year-old woman, and the victim reported the incident on Feb. 1. The Broncos selected the Australia native in the second-round of the 2016 draft. After being limited due to injury in 2016, he played in all 16 games in 2017, making 13 starts and finishing with 41 tackles and 2.0 sacks.
