Why Bengals punter, former Buckeye Drue Chrisman is working as a Doordash driver this summer

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Bengals punter Drue Chrisman has been doing special workouts outside of the weight room this offseason. Chrisman recently signed up to work as a part-time DoorDash delivery driver around the Cincinnati area. A native of nearby Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the former Ohio State punter has been documenting his DoorDash adventures on social media. He’s been using the funds from his new gig to help feed people on the streets. “I use the money I make to spend at local restaurants and hand the food out around town. Chrisman first documented his altruistic journey through a vlog that he posted on YouTube. In the video, Chrisman is seen riding a bike across downtown Cincinnati delivering food and toiletries to people from places like Starbucks and Walgreens. He wore a GoPro camera on his head to film himself moving across town. As a punter, Chrisman naturally has strong legs, which explains his ability to bike for miles and long distances across Cincinnati’s rugged terrain. He also posted a separate video of himself giving out food from the Bengals’ team cafeteria to homeless people on the street as well. The 25-year-old Chrisman enters his second season with the Bengals as he looks to compete to retain his role as the team’s starting punter. Michigan’s Brad Robbins was drafted in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft, so Chrisman faces stiff competition. Chrisman finished the 2022 season with 65 punts for 1,338 yards and two touchbacks for a net average of 47.8 yards per punt in seven regular season games played last year after replacing veteran Kevin Huber midway through the year.
