Giants' Amani Oruwariye leaves practice facility in ambulance

Giants cornerback Amani Oruwariye left the practice facility in an ambulance on Wednesday after suffering a neck injury.
The 27-year-old practice squad member was placed on a backboard and carted off the field after a special teams kickoff drill, according to The Post’s Paul Schwartz.
Oruwariye had movement in all his extremities and was taken to Hackensack Medical Center for further evaluation.

The results testing were negative, and Oruwariye was cleared to return to the facility.
A fifth-round pick of the Lions in 2019, Oruwariye signed a one-year deal with the Giants this offseason.
He has nine interceptions and 173 tackles in 56 career games, all with Detroit.
Oruwariye is the second Giants player to need medical attention at a practice in recent weeks after tight end Tommy Sweeney was carted off after a “medical event” on Aug. 23.

Coach Brian Daboll declined to get into specifics surrounding Sweeney’s incident or whether it required hospitalization.
In 2020, Sweeney missed the entire season after being diagnosed with myocarditis related to a COVID-19 diagnosis.
“That was extremely scary. You never want to see that on the field,” Daniel Jones said of Sweeney’s experience.
