Report: Vikings to tender Harris, Brown

Minnesota Vikings long snapper Jeff Overbaugh (44) appeared in three games last season including two in the playoffs.
The Minnesota Vikings are planning to bring back safety Anthony Harris and running back Mack Brown, the Pioneer Press of St. Paul reported Thursday. The team will tender one-year contracts to Harris and Brown, who are both exclusive rights free agents. Harris' deal will be worth $705,000 and Brown's is for $630,000. Both players will sign them, the newspaper reported. The team will not tender long snapper Jeff Overbaugh, apparently satisfied with Kevin McDermott's progress following shoulder surgery. That means Overbaugh will become an unrestricted free agent next week. An undrafted free agent out of Virginia, Harris has appeared in 36 games with Minnesota, including 16 last season. He started three games and appeared in both playoff contests. Brown appeared in only one game after he was claimed off waivers from the Washington Redskins in October. Overbaugh replaced the injured McDermott in Week 17 and played both postseason games for the Vikings. However, those are the only NFL games Overbaugh has played in his career. McDermott, 28, has served as Minnesota's long snapper the past three seasons, and he played one season each for the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. He is expected to be ready for the 2018 season.
