FB Malcolm Johnson was signed by the Packers to their practice squad Wednesday (Nov. 28). He had been waived from reserve/injured with an injury settlement by the 49ers Sept.
7. Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 231-pound third-year player out of Mississippi State, was originally selected in the sixth round (No. 195 overall) of the 2015 draft by the Cleveland Browns.
He played in 19 games with six starts in two seasons with the Browns (2015-16), hauling in nine receptions for 59 yards (6. 6 avg. ) and carrying the ball once for a gain of 2 yards.
After being released by the Browns on Oct. 24, 2016, Johnson spent some time on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad. In 2018, he was with the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason and training camp.
Johnson played tight end in college, starting 23 of 45 games played, before converting to fullback in the NFL. .
