NFL Team Report - Arizona Cardinals
--Sunday's 45-10 loss at the Chargers dropped the Cardinals to 2-9, threatening to leave them with their worst record in their Arizona history. With a remaining schedule that includes road dates at Green Bay, Atlanta and Seattle and home games against the Lions and Rams, there's a chance the Cardinals might not win another game. If they don't and finish the season 2-14, it will not only be their worst finish since moving to Arizona from St. Louis in 1988, it will mark their fewest wins in a season since 1959, when they went 2-10 and the franchise was known as the Chicago Cardinals. --The Cardinals signed a pair of cornerbacks after the recent cuts of Jamar Taylor, Bene' Benwikere and rookie Chris Jones. Joining the team this week were Dontae Johnson and Quinten Rollins. Johnson played in one game for the Bills this season after spending the previous four seasons with the 49ers, where he appeared in 63 games and made 22 starts - 16 last season. Rollins played in 33 games the past three seasons with the Packers, who reached an injury settlement with him earlier this year. "Those guys are doing a good job of rotating in," head coach Steve Wilks said Wednesday. "David (Amerson) looked pretty good today. We're still trying to get the other two guys up to speed with the terminology and the things we're asking them to do." --Kicker Phil Dawson (hip) was placed on season-ending injured reserve and the Cardinals promoted former Arizona State kicker Zane Gonzalez from the practice squad to the active roster. For Dawson, the move likely means an end to his 20-year NFL career. --"I was just excited to be back. It didn't matter if we were 9-2 or 0-11, 0-12. It was another opportunity to play the game I love." - Safety Budda Baker on returning to practice on Wednesday on a limited basis after missing the past two games with a knee injury. --The Cardinals have three players in the running for the Pro Bowl despite their 2-9 record. They are defensive end Chandler Jones, who is fourth in fan balloting behind Houston's J.J. Watt, Cleveland's Myles Garrett and Minnesota's Danielle Hunter, cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is third in balloting behind Cleveland's Denzel Ward and Chicago's Kyle Fuller, and safety Budda Baker, who is sixth in fan balloting. --"If he's referencing 'The Big Lebowski' at all, it's right at the top of compliments." - Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen telling reporters earlier this year that he calls Rodgers, a mentor, "The Dude." BY THE NUMBERS: 13 - Games in which Cardinals running back David Johnson has posted multiple touchdowns in his career. That ties him with the Rams' Todd Gurley II for the most in the NFL dating back to their rookie season in 2015.
