NFL Team Report - New York Jets</h2><br>PLAYER NOTES<p></p> --LG James Carpenter was placed on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury, effectively ending his season. Since signing with the Jets in free agency following the 2014 season, Carpenter started 58 straight games before getting hurt in the Buffalo game. The shoulder injury first appeared in the Minnesota loss and he sat out last week.<p></p> --G Ben Braden was signed to the active roster from the practice squad Wednesday. He spent all of last season on New York's practice squad after joining the team as an undrafted free agent from Michigan following the 2017 draft.<p></p> --S Marcus Maye was held out of Wednesday's practice with a shoulder/thumb injury.<p></p> --WR Robby Anderson sat out practice Wednesday with a nagging ankle injury. He also missed the Wednesday practice before playing in the New England game.<p></p> --QB Sam Darnold was limited in practice with a foot injury. If he plays, it will be determined how he appears in subsequent practices beyond Wednesday.<p></p> --QB Josh McCown was limited in practice Wednesday with a back and right hand injury.<p></p> --CB Morris Claiborne was limited in practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury.<p></p> --OL Spencer Long was limited in practice Wednesday due to a knee and finger injury.<p></p> PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: WR Jermaine Kearse continues to get targeted in the Jets' offensive game plan. Now only if he can capitalize on being thrown to. Last week Kearse was targeted a season-high 12 times but only caught six of those throws for 66 yards and a touchdown. Kearse has been targeted 10 times in three games but the only instance he caught more than half of those throws was against Indianapolis when he had season highs of nine receptions and 94 yards.<p></p> GAME PLAN: With the odd nature of the run-pass disparity last week, it's hard to decipher exactly what the Jets are trying to do offensively. The Titans are 17th in run defense and eighth in pass defense. Last week, the Jets said they wanted to get aggressive with 50 pass plays and 12 run plays. This week they likely still seek some aggressiveness but the disparity would likely be more evenly distributed.<p></p>MATCHUPS TO WATCH<p></p> --Jets DL vs. Titans OL. While the Jets are not exactly lighting it up defensively with 22 sacks, they get to face a unit that allows the most. The Titans are up to a league-worst 39 sacks allowed after allowing six more in Monday's loss to the Houston Texans.<p></p> --Jets run offense vs. Titans run defense. Assuming the Jets incorporate more running plays in their strategy they could be at an advantage. The Titans allowed 281 yards in their loss to Houston and the Jets could be catching a middle of the road run defense on somewhat of a downward trend. Of course, this is assuming offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates calls for more than the 12 run plays he did last week (not including three Josh McCown runs).
