By Brent Axe | Syracuse, N. Y. —What in the name of Floyd Little is going on here? The Denver Broncos unveiled a new “snowcapped” white alternate helmet with their throwback “D” logo this week.
It’s a sharp-looking helmet that will invoke memories of Little, the Syracuse legend and Hall of Fame running back, John Elway, Shannon Sharpe and other Broncos legends. It didn’t take long to realize that when the new helmet is paired with Denver’s orange uniforms, it strikes an eerie resemblance to the Syracuse University football team when it wears the same uniform combination with white helmets and orange jerseys. It would make sense for the “Orange Crush” looks to collide in that both uniforms are made and designed by Nike.
The Broncos and Syracuse aren’t the only orange, white and blue brethren to cross uniform paths this week. Syracuse, Denver and the University of Illinois could mimic the Spiderman pointing meme with the new uniforms the Illini unveiled this week. Illinois said “the uniforms needed to incorporate orange, blue, and white on the jerseys and pants, have a modern look while keeping traditional aspects of the past, and include the program’s “famILLy” logo.
” Illinois’ new uniforms were also designed by Nike. The Illini currently do not appear on Syracuse football’s non-conference schedule but maybe we can get on Syracuse AD John Wildhack to change that just to see what uniforms each team would break out for the game. .
