WKU picks up commitment from Florida defensive back
Western Kentucky’s football program added to its class of 2024 recruiting haul Monday. Xavion “Tutu” Griffin, a defensive back about to start his senior season at Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, Florida, announced his commitment to WKU on his Twitter social media account Monday. “I really felt like it was the environment, it made me feel like I was at home, and I really wanted to go somewhere where I feel loved and appreciated and welcome to be at,” Griffin told the TC Palm newspaper on Monday.
Griffin, a 6-foot, 185-pounder, played last season at Centennial High School in Port St. Lucie, Florida, then transferred to Vero Beach for his senior season. At Centennial as a junior, Griffin tallied 38 tackles along with an interception and five pass breakups.
He also totaled 11 receptions as a wide receiver. Griffin chose WKU over offers from Pittsburgh, Liberty and South Florida, among others. He is the fifth Floridian to commit to WKU in the Class of 2024.
