Ex-Iowa State star Uwazurike accused of betting on Cyclones games in which he played

Former Iowa State defensive lineman Enyi Uwazurike is alleged to have bet on college and NFL games in which he played, according to documents the Story County attorney provided the Des Moines Register late Tuesday afternoon. The FanDuel account controlled by Uwazurike completed approximately 801 mobile on-line sports wagers, totaling “over $21,361,” the complaint states. Four of the wagers were on Iowa State football games in which he played – Sept.

11, 2021 against Iowa, and Oct. 2, 2021, against Kansas. Both games were played at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

The document also alleges that a FanDuel account controlled by Uwazurike placed “approximately 32” wagers on Broncos games and individual Broncos players. The report alleges five Broncos games on which Uwazurike bet, including two in which he played, according to on-line game reports – Dec. 11, 2022, against Kansas City and Dec.

18, 2022, against Arizona. Uwazurike, picked by Denver in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, was suspended indefinitely by the NFL last month for allegedly placing bets on NFL games. Before being drafted, Uwazurike spent six seasons at Iowa State.

He made 46 starts and played in 60 games in his career, the second-most games played in school history. He finished his standout career with 144 tackles, 34. 5 tackles for loss, 15.

0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, 15 quarterback hurries and two blocked field goals. He was first-Team All-Big 12 in 2021. .
