What is Lance LeGendre's status after arrest as Louisiana football opens 2023 preseason
Louisiana football wide receiver Lance LeGendre's status has not changed as the team is set to open preseason practice Thursday afternoon. Ragin' Cajuns second-year head coach Michael Desormeaux told media members during the team's media day event Wednesday at Russo Park that LeGendre is still suspended following an arrest last week. "Lance LeGendre is suspended indefinitely," Desormeaux said.
"And there will be no other comments on that situation from anyone. " According to a police report obtained by The Daily Advertiser, University of Louisiana police responded to a call for an altercation between LeGendre, 23, and "a dating" individual at 12:01 a. m.
July 26 on Theatre Street. The Ragin' Cajuns' receiver was arrested on the charge of battery following the dispute. LeGendre was released on bond later the morning of July 26.
The former subject of Netflix's docuseries "QB1," LeGendre has been expected to be a key contributor for this season's Cajun team after switching from quarterback to receiver. The 6-2, 224-pounder and New Orleans native signed with Maryland to play quarterback out of Warren Easton High School back in 2019. Desormeaux told The Daily Advertiser during Sun Belt Media Days last week that he was hoping LeGendre would also contribute to the team as the kickoff returner.
